From Brussels to Lille, VS Consulting shakes things up

Founded in Brussels in 2022 by two corporate finance experts, VS Consulting supports SMEs, mid-sized companies and major groups in their strategy, finance and digital transformation. The firm is now taking a new step forward with the opening of its first office in France. And it’s in Lille that this new page is being written – a strategic move supported by exemplary support from Hello Lille and Nord France Invest.

Expertise born in the field, serving companies

Since its creation, VS Consulting has positioned itself as a genuine ‘one-stop shop’ for consultancy: an agile, human-scale structure capable of delivering high added-value services in four key areas – corporate finance, strategy, digital transformation and recruitment.

Founded by Valérie Kibieta (20 years’ experience in treasury and finance) and Siyuan Wu (15 years’ expertise in finance and operations), the firm is based on their combined and proven experience, forged in major international groups, and today has 17 employees in Belgium: senior consultants, financial experts and specialists in digital transformation.

Their ambition? To put this expertise to work for growing companies – SMEs, ETIs and scale-ups – facing complex challenges, sometimes with limited resources. VS Consulting offers comprehensive, coherent, long-term support, including split financial management, interim management, ERP implementation (Silver Odoo partner, Kyriba certified) and customised recruitment.

We don’t sell software, we support strategy. We’re operational people first and foremost: here, we talk business and strategy before tools.

Lille: more than just a choice, it’s an obvious one!

To broaden their horizons beyond a mature but limited Belgian market, international expansion quickly appeared to be a natural growth lever. With several customers already active in France, expanding their presence in the country was an obvious choice. The Haut-de-France region was the obvious choice, and Lille quickly emerged as the ideal base: a city that was accessible, culturally close, economically dynamic and pleasant to live in. The city ticked all the boxes – with the added bonus of a dense, responsive entrepreneurial ecosystem that was perfectly in tune with the firm’s vision.

Lille immediately struck us as being in line with our DNA. It’s an accessible, vibrant area with a strong networking spirit. And everyone told us: “Good idea!

360° support for a successful start-up

VS Consulting’s founders were put in touch with the French-Belgian Chamber of Commerce right from the start, and received tailor-made support coordinated by Hello Lille, the attraction agency for the Lille metropolitan area, and Nord France Invest, the economic development agency for the Hauts-de-France region. Their feedback after just a few months is enthusiastic: responsiveness, clarity, efficiency… and human warmth.

As soon as we said we wanted to set up here, a well-oiled machine was set in motion. In less than 3 months, we had visited several locations, established contacts for our first recruitment drive and met many of the key players. There’s no doubt about it: we’re right where we need to be!

Three decisive levers were quickly put into action by the regional contacts, speeding up their installation in the region.

The search for premises, with several targeted proposals and rapid visits, culminating in the move to Spaces in the “Shake”, an emblematic building just a stone’s throw from the stations. It’s a strategic location, with scalable office space that’s perfectly suited to the firm’s ambitions for the years ahead.
Recruitment, with the support ofAPEC: VS Consulting has already launched the recruitment of a local business manager, the first building block of a future team that should number 20 people in 3 years’ time. This is an ambitious but realistic target, thanks in particular to a local talent pool renowned for the quality of its talent: young people, well trained in finance, IT or management, often immediately operational thanks to work-study programmes.
Integration into the local ecosystem, thanks to direct connections with the region’s major networks: Les Places Tertiaires, Euratechnologies, World Trade Center Lille, etc. A genuine ‘starter pack’ of relationships to create synergies and lay the foundations for solid, sustainable development.
